A Heart at Sea by Half a String

Following a tragedy, a young boy bottles up his heart and throws it in the sea. Intricate puppets are swept through a transforming wooden world as our hero tries to recover his heart. A haunting tale of whales, caves, ships and pirates (with phenomenal beards.)
Beautiful live music accompanies this collaboration between folk singer/songwriter Avi Simmons and puppet maker and artist Peter Morton.

A chance to meet the new Children’s Laureate*, Lauren Child, as she talks about her best-loved characters including Ruby Redfort, Clarice Bean, Huber Horatio, Bartle Bobton-Trent and her latest Charlie and Lola book – A Dog with Nice Ears.

You’ll find out about how Lauren creates her books and why ‘staring into space’ can be such an inspiration. There’ll be time for questions too!

Lauren’s books will be on sale and there will be a book signing afterwards.

There will be an energetic and captivating short performance by Ghanaian Storyteller, Emmanuel the Magnificent before Lauren’s talk.

Please note, this show is recommended for children over 9 but there will be a FREE workshop in the upstairs café for under 9s whilst the show takes place (all children must be accompanied by an adult).
